There’s no fear you’ve ever felt that compares to what you’re feeling right now. The pressure building inside you because of decisions you are yet to make, and choices left to you and you alone. You think to yourself that the responsibility is too much to bear, that all you want to do is turn back time and have your mother tell you everything is going to be alright. Then it hits you, your mother did say everything was going to be alright:
At this moment you realize that you’re not alone in this. That you would feel no shame standing on the shoulders of a giant for she has always carried you. You begin to revel in the possibilities: the delicious constant of uncertainty; of not knowing what the future holds coupled with the safety blanket that is her. And in that security a newfound fortitude begins to take form. You begin to feel the way she must have felt, borrowing strength, hope and faith from her own experiences and the lessons she passed on to you:
“No chasm is too wide, and no pool is too deep. Believe in yourself, because I believe in you”
We are all sons and daughters of women who taught us the importance of what’s truly important, Happy Mother’s Day.
